Herbivoracious Cookbook Review

Herbivoracious is a vegetarian cookbook authored by Michael Natkin. I’ve been following him on social media and his blog before this cookbook came out and even tested out the otsu noodles recipe. I did a little video to go along with each of my blog posts for this project, something I hadn’t done in any… Read More Herbivoracious Cookbook Review

Allergy & Candida Cooking Made Easy Review

My fourth cookbook project has come to a close. Allergy & Candida Cooking Made Easy was a cookbook recommended to me by my Environmental Illness doctor to give me some ideas of things to cook to help my battle with candida.  I have to admit I wasn’t all that thrilled with the cookbook as a… Read More Allergy & Candida Cooking Made Easy Review

Authentic Mexican Cookbook Review

I’ve completed my Authentic Mexican Cookbook by Rick Bayless review project after 15 blog posts and 16 recipes, not counting sauces, condiments and marinades. I have to admit I’m pretty glad it’s over. This project has been the most difficult of the cookbook projects I’ve done so far. The recipes weren’t really hard but almost… Read More Authentic Mexican Cookbook Review

Newlywed Kitchen Cookbook Review

This was my second cookbook project, the first being The Herbfarm Cookbook. I made two recipes from each section with the exception of two sections: The meat, poultry and seafood section was much larger than the others so I made four from it and the brunch section, not because the section was so large but… Read More Newlywed Kitchen Cookbook Review

HerbFarm Cookbook Review

I’ve been making recipes every week from the Herbfarm Cookbook over the past 3 months. I enjoy doing photography projects, especially those that include food. My first food photography project was Food A-Z. It was challenging at times as well as fun and also provided me with several photos to submit to my Getty Images… Read More HerbFarm Cookbook Review

This is the bean selection that went into the chili last week from beans harvested last year. It includes rosso di lucca, pellegrini, jacobs gold, rockwell, 1500 year old cave beans and some pintos.
The majority of the 19 annuum pepper varieties I started 10 days ago have germinated. A new pepper starting video is coming soon!
The grow room is starting to fill up! I have a growroom tour posted on my ‘gapeysgrub’ YouTube channel if you want to see what’s growing and what equipment I’m using.
Happy #nationalchiliday! Made a batch of chili over the weekend and tossed in a handful of frozen peppers which were much hotter than expected making the chili almost inedible. Seems like I made the same mistake last year. Will I ever learn? Made another batch with no heat the other day to combine with it and it’s much better. Lots of home grown beans went into each one.
Thanks to @ajwildwayfarm for bringing me one step closer to becoming a bean enthusiast! I got a few beans of each of these varieties to try out. Scarlet runner is the only one I’ve grown before. Have you tried any of these? I recognize some of these from @wholefedhomestead’s collection.
Seed mail came yesterday from the @mykitsaproots seed swap. Lots of goodies. I shared them all in my stories yesterday if you want to see all I got.
Look how beautiful this variegated chicory (radicchio) is! It’s growing fast but might still be a bit too early to put it out in the garden.
The greenhouse made it through the snow storm with no problem. We are starting to see some of the vivid choi mustard starting to bolt already but the red giant mustard is still doing great. Some of the lettuces are getting their roots eaten which has killed a few of them.
Happy #flowerfriday! The snow completely covered all of the plants in the yard including the hellebores and snow drops. The snow has started to melt and the plants are reappearing. It’s amazing how cold resistant they are.
The chinense and baccatum peppers are coming along nicely. They're a month old and all growing at different rates. Just started the annuums and waiting for them to sprout.
Garden goals: be a bean enthusiast like @wholefedhomestead and @ajwildwayfarm. I’d like to say I grew all these but nope. This is a 13 bean fiesta mix I found on @azurestandard. It has a bunch of different beans, peas and lentils that I’m looking forward to turning into a soup. I may try growing a few of the beans just for fun though. 😁
Happy #tomatotuesday! This is a throwback to 2016, the year I grew the japanese black trifele tomato which is one of my favs but haven't grown it since then cuz I'm always wanting to try different varieties every year. Well this is the year I'm bringing it back and it will once again be in our garden. The only other varieties I'm growing that I've grown before are the Fertunia Italian paste and my favorite cherry tomato, Barry's crazy cherry. All the rest will be new to me varieties. What tomato variety are you looking forward to growing the most next year?
